Key Market Segments

Vishay Siliconix Serves Four Key Market Segments with our Array of Hi-Rel Products

The emphasis on hi-rel products continues today with new products such as our power IC compliant devices designed to meet changing application requirements. Vishay Siliconix has invested heavily during the past few years to maintain the edge in analog ICs, power ICs, and discrete products.

Our high-quality assembly and test facilities for hi-rel products are backed up with similar assembly and test functions at off-shore or on-shore facilites for QPL or non-QPL requirements.

Certified Facilities for Military Standard

From manufacturing locations in the United States, China, Taiwan, and the Philippines, we deliver the highest quality products conforming to the demanding JM35810 and Mil-S-19500 specifications and complying with Standard Military Products (SMD) and Mil-STD-883. We maintain two DESC certified fabrication lines in Santa Clara, California, for both our six- and four-inch wafer lines. We also maintain and manufacture a large library of active customer source control drawings (SCD) that are unique to specific requirements and applications. The commitment to quality embodied here reflects our company objective to be the supplier of choice in the markets we pursue, achieving a leading position, worldwide, in all of our product lines.

Vishay Siliconix Quality and
Product Reliability Programs

Vishay Siliconix Quality Programs

All Vishay Siliconix products are backed by the Vishay Siliconix Quality Policy: to achieve total customer satisfaction through everything we do, and to make the quality of our products and services our number the priority. Continuous improvement at Vishay Siliconix incorporates a rigorous series of courses for employees worldwide in CI/SPC tools. Other processes used by Vishay Siliconix to ensure quality and reliability are

periodic reliability testing to monitor product reliability
audits and monitors to verify conformance to requirements
supplier quality review to measure subcontractors and raw materials
qualifications/change control to maintain quality in new products and through major process changes
AOQ/PPM to measure product quality at shipment

Vishay Siliconix Product Reliablity Programs

Product reliability at Vishay Siliconix is assured by two primary programs: the Reliability Qualification Program and the Product Reliability Monitor Program.

Qualification Program Purpose

Qualification is a means for verifying that changes in circuit design, fabrication process, package materials or type, or assembly method or location result in product that meet specified reliability requirements. In addition, the qualification process is a source of much information on the major characteristic of a new product or process technology.

Qualification Categories

All significant changes require qualification, but the degree of qualification depends on the nature of the change. Vishay Siliconix has grouped these changes into three categories, with Category A events requiring the most numerous lot and sample sizes and longest stress periods of life tests, and Category C events requiring the fewest lots and samples sizes and shorter life test periods. The following table illustrates the kind of changes which constitute each qualification category.

Category A
New Technologies/ Processes, New Fab Facility, New Design of New Process

Category B
New Product on Qualified Process, Redesign on Qualified Process/Design Rules, New Package, New Assembly Location, New Piece Parts

Category C
Minor Design Revision, Minor Assembly Change, Minor Process/Fab Change

Stresses Employed

The stresses, tests, and evaluations required for change are specified in a matrix table contained in a controlled qualification specification. The stresses employed in a qualification will depend on the nature of the change and the device and package type to be qualified. In general, the following stresses and evaluations are part of this matrix:

Static High-Temperature Life Test
Dynamic High-Temperature Life Test
High-Temperature Reverse Bias
High Temperature Gate Bias
Power Cycling
Biased humidity (85/85)
HAST (Highly Accelerated Stress Test)
Pressure Pot(Autoclave)
Temperature Cycling
High-Temperature Storage Life
Moisture Resistance
Surface-Mount Preconditioning

Electromigration Evaluation
Metal Step Coverage
Latch-Up Immunity Characterization
ESD Characterization
Die Shear
Bond Integrity
Lead Integrity
Bond Strength
Mark Permanency
Mechanical Shock
Solderability
