(NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of a new Zener diode series in the ultra-small SOD 523 (SC79) plastic package, which features very small dimensions of 1.2 mm by 0.8 mm with a 0.6 mm height profile. The new BZX584Cxx 02 series Zener diode from Vishay Semiconductors, rated for a voltage range of 2.4 V to 15 V, is designed specifically for space-sensitive voltage-regulation applications in portable communications and computing devices including cellular and cordless phones, Bluetooth products, digital cameras, MP3 players, notebook computers, and PDAs. These diodes feature a notably high power dissipation value of 200 mW given their extremely compact package size. An innovative die and lead-frame technology provides for a low thermal resistance of just 600 K/W. Each of the new diodes weighs just 1.5 mg and is available in tape and reel packaging. Samples and production quantities of the new Zener diode series in the SOD 523 package are available now, with lead times of eight to ten weeks for larger orders.
